Hill Has Been Best in U.S. Since 2015Published by the Register-Guard on June 7, 2016 It’s been a long journey to the top for Ryan Hill, who has proven to be one of the best distance runners in the U.S. during the past year. Now it’s time for the 26-year-old from Hickory, N.C., to show his Olympic mettle. Hill, who has lived Portland and trained with the Bowerman Track Club for the last three years after his career at North Carolina State ended, had his big breakthrough last summer when he won the 5,000 meters at the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in 13 minutes, 50.69 seconds.
