Junior Women's Heptathlon (2:15 p.m.) San Diego State's Allison Reaser made up for a subpar high jump with a 24.30 in the 200 to take the heptathlon lead after day one's events. Reaser, who was 18th at the NCAA championships earlier this month, leads with 3,174 points, 11 ahead of Lindsay Vollmer. Last year's Junior champion, Alex Gochenour, moved up to fourth at 3,126. Junior Men's Javelin (2 p.m.) He was the runner-up last year at Des Moines as a high schooler, but UCLA freshman Derek Eager moved atop the podium here with his final-round 69.22/227-1 throw. That throw took him past current Washington high schooler Sean Keller, who finished second at 67.05/219-11. Junior Men's Decathlon (1:20 p.m.) Gunnar Nixon got off to a solid start in the decathlon with a personal best time in the 100m of 11.03, and a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 7.30m/23-11.5. However, Nixon's marks were not good enough to maintain the lead. Nixon's future teammate, Kevin Lazas of Arkansas leapt to the lead with a PR toss of 15.25m/50-0 in the shot. After three events, Lazas is in the lead with a margin of 131 points. Katie Landry Marketing & Communications Coordinator USA Track & Field 317.713.4672 More news |
