'TrackTown' Oregon premiere coming to TrackTown USA

TrackTown USA Release

A Letter from Alexi Pappas –

I am so excited for the Eugene premiere of my movie “Tracktown,” which will be held at the McDonald Theater on July 5 during the rest day of the US Olympic Trials.

The experience of having the world premiere at the LA Film Festival earlier this June was special, but I know that bringing “Tracktown” back to TrackTown USA will be a whole other magical experience entirely.

Our world premiere in Los Angeles felt like the joining of two worlds I am passionate about: running and film. Co-director Jeremy Teicher and I were thrilled to introduce the movie to a sold-out audience of film lovers and runners alike.
Hundreds of people were packed in the theater, even sitting on the stairs and standing in the aisles.

After the screening, I hung out in the theater lobby and met so many young runners who made the journey to Los Angeles to share this evening together. They told me that the movie spoke to them and that it felt like it was made for them and the sport they love so much. This meant the world to me as both a runner and a storyteller.

I am incredibly excited that the running community in Eugene will have the opportunity to come to this special screening of the movie during the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field. Watching the film in the town where it was made during the Trials will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Here’s what film critics had to say about “TrackTown” at the LA Film Festival:

The Hollywood Reporter: "A winning, winsome comedy ... serves as a sparkling showcase for endearing lead Alexi Pappas, who also splits directing and writing duties with Jeremy Teicher."

Cromeyellow: "A refreshing new entry into the sports genre, one steeped in intimate human stakes while also acting as a sharp contrast to the testosterone and masculinity that has overcrowded the scene for so long … The film is an entertaining mix of warmth, humor and quirk that’s easily worth cheering for."

Moveable Fest: "If Alexi Pappas ever wants to put a successful career as a long-distance runner behind her, she makes clear in 'Tracktown' that she can always fall back on being a movie star... a major crowd-pleaser."

LA Daily News: "Pappas expertly balances Plum’s sweet vulnerability and competitor’s commitment throughout … With her expressive eyes and warm screen presence, any Hollywood producer would be lucky to get her."

Battleship Pretension: “An object lesson in the fact that there are infinite different ways to be a woman, no matter how firmly drawn the gender lines sometimes seem to be."
